Leaving BTH

This spring marks the end of an era for me as a freelance teacher at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH). I’ve been fortunate to teach a wide range of courses at the Department of Technology and Aesthetics in Karlshamn, which is now gradually shutting down. Over the years, I have worked across four different bachelor’s programs:

  • Game Design
  • Digital Image Production
  • Design of Digital and Immersive Experiences
  • Design of Digital Experiences for Learning

During my time at BTH, I’ve had the pleasure of planning and teaching on courses that bridge theory and practice, including:

  • Visual Aesthetics, covering critical theory and art history.
  • Introduction to Media Technology, incorporating media studies.
  • Functional Visual Design, focusing on affordances and usability theory.
  • Generative Image Production, coding visual works in Processing.
  • Interactive Storytelling, introducing Twine as a tool for nonlinear narratives.
  • Storytelling in Games, with hands-on workshops exploring narrative design.
  • Storytelling in Visual Media & Digital Storytelling, with a focus on virtual and augmented reality.

Teaching at BTH has been a great complement to artistic work, staying in touch with game design practice and media production. I will miss these courses. They have been a joy to teach, not only because of the subject matter but also because of the curious students.

I am now looking for new teaching opportunities within these areas. If you know of any opportunities where my knowledge in digital media, storytelling, and game design could be valuable, feel free to reach out!
